Dancing Gabe Newell

Let's Hear it for Ryan Cole, ladies and gentlemen! While working on the last strip, he was generous to offer working on this beauty. Look! He dances! What, did you think I was going to post a single comic and come back again in six months? I'm far too generous for that. You got a year's worth of strips in under a week! That's value!

More to come on update status of the comic soon, I promise you. For now, all I can say is updates are coming, and I hope you enjoy them as they come.

E3. What a different mess each year. Couldn't not have done a comic about it. Had Nintendo seemingly making up for the past few years of not caring about its core audience all while everyone else is trying to fight for their crumbs. Microsoft's presentation was terrible. Sony's was passable. Nintendo seemed to be the only one that realized that we don't care about the exciting new ways we can update facebook and play farmville, and even then, it took them a few years to remember. Making gobs of money does that, I suppose.

3DS. How exciting does this little gadget sound? I was hoping for dual touch capable screens like the ipod, but given everything else added to the system, who's going to complain about what works? 3D isn't something I care about. I rarely see movies in 3D, and when I do it's because somebody else wants to. It gives me a headache, and with the exception of Avatar, it doesn't add to the movie. It's apparently not the case with Metal Gear Solid, and I suppose it'll be about making games more fun (you know. that thing we had before everything got brown and serious?) and adding visual depth to games. I'm still skeptic but far less skeptic than I was two months ago when the thing was leaked.

Kinect. See the comic. While I applaud Microsoft for trying something new, they haven't shown anything that differentiates Kinect from the Eyetoy, and I've seen far more compelling games for the Eyetoy. It's not something, I'd wager, a lot of us care about for the same reason you don't see drums free Rock Band and Guitar Hero for the Wii. We like controllers. We like the feel and response of them much like we enjoy the feel of hitting actual drums with actual sticks instead of flailing around in a game of virtual charades. We get don't get that from Kinect, and their best game they showed off isn't even something their 150 dollar addon can do exclusively

And companies need to realize this junk needs to be included in the box. I'm not against all the motion control stuff. I'll buy the stuff I like. I don't need to hate playing wiifit if I don't buy it. I wouldn't mind playing RE5 with the move controller. Or Socom. What I do mind is dropping 50 on a controller, 30 on a second part, and then the camera, and then whatever odds and ends that follow. Great thing about the wii though is it essentially had all this junk when it launched out of the box. Of the millions of Wiis, how many have the motion plus, do you wager? How many great balance board games do you see? Remember how many great game cube games there were that used the GCN to GBA cable? All three of them?

Not gonna leave you now

Just tossing something up again so something is in fact tossed up. Sorry I'm so awful at keeping up with this comic as of late. Till that's fixed, I offer you some caricatures of the Beatles. Beatles Rock Band is simply lovely. It's crazy to think that decades after their music was made, they're still making such a big impact in the world. Young and old alike. I showed my mother the game and she spent the day remembering the band. How she was allowed to stay up the night they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show.

It's safe to assume a lot of people are tired of the Guitar music genre, but I don't think you'd be dissapointed to at least rent this game. Doesn't quite pack the challenge of that of Guitar Hero, but that doesn't deter the enjoyment.

There shall be a comic at some point next week. It might not be monday, but it shall go up. Oh! and I guess I have a twitter now. Why not follow me? I hear that's all the rage.

Peace out.
